Please, for the love of pete, be optimistic. We have the power to make things better. If we resign ourselves to cynicism we lead poorer lives now and we will be poorer in the future.

My grandma lived near Kansas City and was a lifelong Chief's fan. She would be smiling (and screaming loudly) right now if she were still with us. Grandma, I’m smiling for you tonight. I miss you. And I love you. ❤️

This is a good idea: Replace the hour in a time with a letter, so you can easily know and communicate times no matter what time zone you’re in. Fantastic design.

Welcome to World : 02 02 2020 This is the first time in over 900 years (since 11/11/1111) the date is palindromic no matter the date format. It’s also the 33rd day of the year with 333 days left!

I don’t think it’s been built and I suspect this may be quite hard because of platform restrictions. Or maybe it’s just a very niche desire.

Has anyone built a good product that stores our activity histories in a searchable database? I’d really love my URL’s visited, movies watched, kindle books read, podcast episodes listened too, and notes written to all be saved in a central database.

I really hope we aren’t in the LTCM phase on world peace. I tend to believe in the optimistic Hans Rosling / Steven Pinker view. But it’s possible that there’sa risk for unexplained/unpredictable variance.

When I hear people vent about social dynamics, 8 times out of 10, the answer is “everyone did a non-optimal thing here, you all should assume fault and good faith and just move forward.” Applies to work, dating, family, etc. (Tbf, 2 times out of ten, someone’s a psycho).

This is about a years worth of finance 101 in one tweet. Everyone I know: “I’ve never heard of that fund.” Exactly.

It’s Schrodinger's Startup until the IPO (and sometimes until well after that). If you run a big company or a company that aspires to be big, there isn't really a point when you can lay off the paranoia or hard work.

My dream Barry’s Bootcamp instructor is . Robert Caro based motivational quips. Nine hour workout sessions simulating sprinting through Robert Moses’ entire road network. This is the beautiful cyberdystopian future I want.

We’re in the middle of a 10+ year process of this all working out to a stasis state. I think this will be net positive culturally. I think it was who predicted that cancel culture will become less important/prevalent. I think he’s right.

Political correctness is amazingly beneficial as a motive for clearly communicating. Having to consider how you’ll be heard makes you better. It’s weaponization has created real problems, but drove the above (consequences force consideration).

Twitter is totally fine for nuanced conversations.* -- * If you know the person already and know they are willing to engage in nuanced conversations. It wildly fails if you engage randos on it. :)

YouTube makes an estimated $15-25b/year for Google. It's the second largest search engine and a go-to for all sorts of learning/self-improvement across the world. Is Youtube under-priced?
