Depending on budget and desired features the Sony a6000/6300/6500 is a great choice.

If you're more photo focused and less video focused Fujifilm XT10/XT20 are great.

I’m pretty happy with my canon g7x mark ii but honestly I’ve heard the Sony RX100 v is amazing. Would probably go back and get the Sony if I knew more at the time. It shoots 4K too

Sony Alpha all the way. But they are expensive. They are designed to be lighter than DSLR and many pros use them. Try sony Alpha6000 or sony alpha 3

The Fuji X-series is definitely amazing. Great image quality, quality lenses and the vintage look doesn't hurt if you ask me. Video features and quality is a bit lackluster, but for photos they are amazing cameras.

I'd look into X-T20 if you want interchangeable lenses or the X100F if you want a more compact no hassle camera

Sony A7 is my favorite, full frame, super compact and great selection of modern and vintage objectives

First question is how much do you want to spend. Sony a7R III is spectacular, but it’s $4K for body + general use lens. Worth it if image quality is #1 priority. https://amzn.to/2IFNCo8 https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sony-a7r-mark-iii-review …

I'm definitely not a professional so dont want to go overboard, mainly going to shoot pics for instagram and twitter. Budget is around 2.5k$ and that would need to include 1 or 2 lenses aswell.
