This is always my situation! Like sure guys I know I’m smaller than u but I still wanna rest at least one of my arms?? 
I’m being sandwiched in the middle seat between two buff Romanian looking dudes and they both took both armrests. It’s just a 3hour flight. I’m fine...

Just pretend to fall asleep on their shoulders. The either dodge this awkward situation leaving the arm rest free or you get a nice and warm shoulder pillow instead of the armrest. Win - win right?

Just sneak your arm slowly onto the rest, just a few milimeter away from their arms. And at the time they move their arms, they will touch yours and will move away a bit more, which you can use to get more space. repeat this till the rest (hah.. pun..) is yours. My basic -

This is one of the situations where being crippled comes in handy. People are automatically more submissive with comforts and all of that. I play that card whenever it benefits me.
