does it just shut down without rebooting or does it reboot after shutdown? the easiest thing to solve would be heat related issues, but it sounds like there could be loose connections (cause of your travel)

It sounds very much like overheating (I had that exact problem with my CPU before it got fried) there is also a chance that you have some weird power setting on your laptop that makes it shut down, maybe you should check that.

You can also try to update all drivers, BIOS, virus / malware scan. Or else I have no clue, it could be alot of things and I can only recommend going to a repair shop or calling ASUS.
