    Also it potentially lets him better find marks than most of us! The downside is it makes you vulnerable to being incorrect about actual longterm structural changes, e.g. climate change.

    My theory: Bryan is particularly good at remembering that most things regress to the mean and most swans are white. This goes a long way toward explaining his many wins. To my mind that's a narrow, but incredibly valuable, understanding of the universe.

    A fair amount of criticism of Facebook lately has felt under-theorized, if not outright incoherent, to me. Everyone agrees that "privacy" is good in the abstract but the point of having data on a platform like Facebook is to do stuff with it.

    Some journals require authors to disclose conflicts of interest. That's good. I've never been asked to disclose conflicts of interest as a reviewer, or as an editor. Journals should ask, and should inform authors if their MS was reviewed by a conflicted referee. Readers too.

    My podcast concept: Deep Dive. In each episode, one guest presents & argues for a claim, which should be interesting & not obvious. The whole episode goes into evaluating the details of that argument & possible counter arguments. Would you listen?
