Has iOS autocorrect gotten incredibly bad for anyone else? It used to correct common mistakes but now it just replaces entirely valid words with other similar words turning sentences into nonsense

Yes. It can be awful. Random changes that don’t make sense, changing words to all caps for no reason, and when you backspace and correct it, it re-discorrects it for you. (I made up a word there and it didn’t even budge on that one).

The re-discorrecting is the worst and so aggressive!

In iOS 11, they changed it from whatever it used to be to Machine Learning based replacement. It's just been awful and unusable ever since.

Isn't that true for most "machine learning" fads?

Some can be quite good. Google’s Night Sight camera is ML based, Apple uses it for portrait mattes and depth estimation on XR which are great in practice

It replaced "ID" with "I'd" for me today. 🤷‍♂️

Yes, since iOS 12. For some odd reason, it keeps “correcting” words that are already correct…

Yeah, it now often replaces words with apostrophes with totally nonsense words lately! Such as they're to they'.d or something like that 🙄

Yes, but I found If I keep writing it would switch it back to the “correct” version. Like it needed the context of the whole sentence.
