    Good point on the . I’d guess it wasn’t spotted because there was limited understanding of potential risk as it was being developed. If they’d been qualified eyes, questions would have been asked. Dev teams need risk and reputation people on teams!

    Some questions: 1️⃣Who designed the algorithm? 2️⃣Was it tested and risk assessed before use? 3️⃣Will algorithms designed for public services be made open and transparent? This crisis is down to bad design of the algorithm. Let's remember, individuals take exams!

    🚨 Massive exams u-turn: Ofqual announces teacher-assessed grades will be given to A, AS and GCSEs students in England this summer. Ofqual chair Roger Taylor: "After reflection, we have decided that the best way...is to award grades on the basis of what teachers submitted"

    Important points made in short thread below. I also raised points in my thread on the fiasco: Some other questions: 1️⃣Who wrote the algorithm? 2️⃣What was the brief for the algorithm? 3️⃣Was there a risk audit on outcomes of the algorithm?

    On A-levels, I'd assumed (as did my panel of educators on the radio on Saturday) that private schools had done better with the Ofqual algorithm simply because they had better track records of turning predictions into similar grades. But its so much worse than that...
