Spike - coming from a (gasp!) Libertarian background, I've 180'ed on social safety nets, and now support universal basic income. Imagine what society would be like if *everyone* was given enough to get by, covering basic essentials...and therefore all jobs were truly voluntary?
it's hilarious to me that study after study proves the most cost-effective way to help the poor become productive members of society is to just GIVE THEM MONEY w/ NO STRINGS (or housing or whatever) & politicians don't care
ya!reduction in cost of healthcare from alleviating that disease-causing stress (it regularly exacerbates my mental illness too) from millions of americans alone would make it worth it. & basic income could help ppl afford to escape abusive households easily & all kinds of things
