If protesters pretend to be press, it doesn’t keep protesters safer. What it does is jeopardize the safety of press. Because if one “press” attacks an officer, the officers have an excuse to see all journalists as a threat. If you value having press at protests, PLEASE stop this

He was mentioning that the only thing that he’s okay doing is rendering medical aid.

Just thought of a direct analogy that I think is important for folks who want to push back on this, which I understand at some level, the videographer with the police is also not press, but a member of the police who is videoing.

Do you think that jibes?

I sometimes carry a sign while livestreaming, and I reserve the right to do that. Engaging in one first-amendment protected right doesn't mean I have to forfeit another. But I agree that engaging in aggressive behavior while wearing press stuff is endangering and inconsiderate.
-
If you are press then you should not do that. True journalists understand that you remain neutral and do not become part of the story. Please be careful.

When you say "fight some feds" were the feds attacking and the person was defending themselves? Because I've seen a press person who was doing nothing but recording shot with "less lethal" bullets straight up for no reason AFTER the TRO. Where's video to back up your story?
