I agree. I expect AI to be different in that it will kill everyone on Earth and replace them with nothing of worth from even a very cosmopolitan standpoint on what is worthwhile.

i might write about it later but the point here is that existential risk is the only thing that can weigh against the upsides of AI, and not like “job loss” or what have you

The complete devaluation of human endeavor isn’t an upside. At some point, we will render ourselves utterly useless. The pitchforks will come first, then the gallows. By then it won’t matter. We’ve seen this movie before.
