Unlike their grandparents who heeded the call of Manifest Destiny and headed into Indian Territory with horse and plow to redeem and remake land, land artists viewed the terrain as an empty canvas to be cut, blasted and reshaped to their liking. grist.org/culture/land-a

Sorry for the language, but fuck the idea that we should celebrate the Earth one day a year. We are 100% dependent on this wet ball. Protecting it should be an intrinsic part of our lives and our civilization. This is our greatest responsibility.

Does anyone how to dig up lost Dropbox files on a computer hardrive? I fear I just lost a dozen important folders with a single click. (Yes, I'm horrified, and mildly terrified. I'm trying not to panic.)

our planet could be eminently careening into the maw of an eldritch being & there'd still be headlines like 'Cancel Culture Gone Too Far?: I remember when we could have engaged in spirited debate about whether to rejoice in our glorious devouring by Zahrog, Sovereign of Despair.'

Funny, I never see the NYT talk about protests against police brutality in America this way

As antiwar protests continued across Russia, the police detained at least 411 people in 13 cities on Monday, an activist group said. The protests are a remarkable display of defiance in a country where prison terms are sometimes sought for demonstrators. nyti.ms/3pq5czV

There are so many projects I'd love to be working on right now, instead I'm quietly simmering in frustration at the fact that all of the arts programs--including the one that I'm currently in--will be combined into a program with zero clarity.
There's a certain level of humor in the fact that I've spent far more time attempting to research the upcoming acquisition of the school I'm currently attending and trying to support the cohort that I'm part of than I have actually studying this semester.

This story started with a tip from an anonymous caller who said the TDCJ regional director got fired because his mother-in-law was selling drugs in the prison parking lot. I’ve been following this tip for 3 years. Here’s my latest story, and a THREAD: themarshallproject.org/2022/02/10/ris

It's finished: my digital poem of the transcontinental. If you're interested in polygamy, adoption, manifest destiny, race relations, labor unions, land art & more, this is your poem. @CopperCanyonPrs is publishing next year, but come play now! westtrain.org

Hey all, I'm looking into--and compiling--info about college mergers and acquisitions, especially between research universities and liberal arts institutions. If you have advice or recommended resources, my ears (and messages) are open.

Very excited to say that I'm helping launch this new nonprofit journalism project. We'll dig into local politics & organizing around criminal justice & voting rights — key issues where local govt plays an outsized and often overlooked policy role. Follow us at !

We focus on two hubs where local governments play a crucial role: criminal justice & voting rights. So many institutions all around the country shape these issues; we help you track who has the power to do what, & what they’re doing about it. We will be live soon with stories.

i was asked yesterday in a podcast interview what allies can do to be in better relation with Indigenous people. my answer was stop giving your love & allegiance to the settler state. give it to the planet, including human relatives. there is no such thing as a good patriot.

In Texas, a defendant can commit murder, claim that the victim’s gender identity or sexual orientation triggered a mental breakdown and receive a lighter penalty. Smart reporting by the great .
