the evolutionary drives that push us to gather/hoard resources, signal, etc, don't go away and are a source of meaning for most.

losing a sense of meaning can be disastrous, even if all of your physical needs are met, and redefining meaning isn't easy

I think jobs are for most people an income source that consumes time. The remaining time is where they do all the meaningful things.
