My heart is bursting. On the eve of my first child's birth, my dad - who's been in prison nearly my entire life - was granted clemency. He never intended harm, yet his crime devastated many families. My heart breaks for the families that can never get their loved ones back.

The strong prey on the weak. Not surprising that those who do the most evil would be the most eager to see evil forgiven.

The justice system isn't, or shouldn't be, concerned with metaphysical questions of good & evil. There is nothing that can bring back those victims. If the convicted person has served their sentence, then they have done what we consider appropriate 'punishment.'
