They didn’t realise forcing a change from lightning to USB-C for Apple would create tonnes of E-Waste immediately? Not to mention just because it has a physical USB-C on it doesn’t mean it’ll work with stuff as the electrical/protocol side is so fractured.

Well... Apple kinda did that themselves when they went to lightening and then moved iPad Pro to USB C...

Wow. That sure is forward thinking! Just think, if this was out a few years ago, everyone would be stuck with microUSB! Lighting was light-years better than that & Apple helped drive USB-C, is a huge improvement. But, to restrict innovation through law?? /oy

How does it restrict innovation? Seriously, I don’t know enough about it, is there stuff you can’t do over USB C?
