This past term I put a full time month's worth of effort into making an awesome photorealistic path tracer for my graphics course final project, putting *way* more effort than necessary in since I was having so much fun. Check out my demo website:

is fantastic. Both issues so far are full of really cool short articles about fun programming hackery and low level tricks.

I tried switching from Chrome to Safari again but the thing that killed it this time is that video on 1.5x or 2x speed has way crappier robotic sounding audio on Safari. :|

I've been working with for a long time to create something that combines the best of Notebooks with the best of traditional software development approaches. It's called nbdev. We're releasing it today as open source. 1/

Finished a post about instanced line rendering: TL;DR: Leverage instancing to expand line segments in a vertex shader. Gets you fast, flexible lines with an intuitive and compact data structure. Source: Enjoy!

Dreams is the most impressive accomplishment in software engineering I’ve ever seen. It contains phenomenally cool and impressive takes on like 4 different full professional applications, all with astounding UI. Done by a team with less than 15 programmers, in a few years.

Having fun mocking up a wall art idea in Blender. Not sure I'll be able to actually make it though since the only wood tool I currently own is a hand saw...

In Manhattan, bright windows can cost an extra $400/month, but $400 once bought me a sweet strand of 40 LED bulbs that make my apartment nice and bright. It's a mix of warm and cool colour temperature bulbs on two separate smart dimmers so I can do f.lux/Night Shift too!

Perk of moving to the US: I can get Pandora and use to finally have a streaming music service that selects songs for me with a native player that doesn't eat all my RAM and battery.

This post is a masterpiece: An overview of CPU microarchitecture, a description of a tiny OS kernel with interesting properties, a dive into how performance counters work, and a cool trick for using them.

I wrote an article that gives a tour of how different languages implement generics, and how those methods can be extended in different ways into full metaprogramming systems. Includes Go, Rust, Swift, D and more languages.
