SWITCH TO PREMIUM MASKS—I’ve been saying it for months. We need to switch to KN95, KF94, or European FFP2 masks ASAP. The new #b117 #COVID19 is just too contagious. Cloth isn’t enough anymore folks. Germany

I agree, but just looking at the prices, they are SO expensive. Perhaps they need to be reduced in price to allow them to be affordable for all?

Vulnerable people who wish to wear N95s should be provided with a stock by the NHS. Others can wear them if they want to. No one should have to wear any mask at all.

That's not going to happen though. Where are they available? How much do they costs? Are they single use? Are they recyclable? Who is making money out of them? Is there a sustainable alternative?

Most I saw online were single use, with some dearer, rewashable ones that seemed to be fit for up to 3 wears.

I have a pocket in between my two layer fabric masks. In this I insert a piece of shower curtain type plastic which fully covers nose and mouth. Surely this would suffice?

That sounds really hard to breathe through. I've got a 3 layer cotton mask with a filter pocket I leave empty. I tried putting a layer of heavy paper towel in the pocket recently but it made it really hard to breathe. Mostly just trying to avoid people.
