Fact. I’ve never wanted to be friends with anyone because of who they are or what they do, never wanted to advance my career via association, nor been nice to anyone I think’s a prick. My career has certainly suffered because of it, but 30 years later I’m still doing what I love.

Last time I played with Andrew I did everything I could to try and impress him, after around an hour he asked me what a track was, kept my cool but inside was utterly elated. The King.

So few have graced the worlds of both popular music & the avant garde so masterfully let alone with such effortless style & innovation. The fact he did this over a career of nearly 5 decades constantly evolving & never compromising is a testament to his untouchable talent. R.I.P

Not many pieces of music capable of transcending genres whilst leaving a transformative effect in its wake on so many other hugely important things that followed. Anthemic, sublime, timeless, infinite, pure bliss. R.I.P Manuel.

Request received today for luxury french fashion brand, “For this years collection, we would love to get a mix from you, in exchange you will be offered €250 of products”. Looked at their website, they sell T-shirts for €300. The value of music in 2019.

R.I.P Richard Rogers. When I was much younger I used to visit the city at night just to ogle at the most radical piece of architecture I’d ever seen, would spend hours admiring its intricate details. Later post clubbing we’d watch the rising sun reflecting on its sci-if curves.

If my dad had cheated on my mum who was hounded to her death, had to mourn publicly as a child, served in the armed forces & married a woman who was torn apart by the right wing media + racist gammons, I’d do what the fuck I wanted to regardless what my grandmother thought too.

Back in 2000 when played Love Parade YouTube didn’t exist so we couldn’t see this. Saw it for the first time earlier today, wild wild times & very happy memories, one of the best records I released on Output & still sounding killer. BLACKSTROBE FOREVER 👊🏼

If the music industry as a whole had any sense they’d all get together and create their own streaming service with equal terms & larger royalties going to labels & artists, pull all their catalogue from Spotify & force them into better terms. But they don’t.

Whine as much as you want about brand association with music but the end of RBMA is a sad day for all upcoming musicians & established ones. For me the only corporate concept I experienced that actually worked actively contributing to the culture way more than it took from it.

Who would of thought over 30 years after me dancing my arse off to Richie Rich ‘Salsa House’, Lil Louis ‘French Kiss’ & Frankie Knuckles ‘Tears’ in a field with 1000’s of wide eyed sweaty ravers I’d be asked to rebrand the very label all those classics were on? Well it happened.

Took a couple of months off my NTS show to see if anyone bothers listening or gives a shit. No one missed me, or even wondered where I was, so in light of that tonight’s return will be dedicated to all the losers, rejects, failures & has beens out there. #solidarity

Aren’t you all sick of all this hyper aspirational shit yet? World couldn’t be more fucked up and you want to pluck your eyebrows, wear £1000 sneakers and your girlfriend to look like a porn star. Bring on the apocalypse.

So great we won tonight but can’t shake off the tragic fact such a multiculturally diverse & brilliantly inspiring team of young people proudly represent England on a playing field, yet a backwards, insular, corrupt & chaotic group of redundant chancers represent us off of it.

Was reminded today my DJ Kicks was released 20 yrs ago? remember doing it like it was yesterday. Spent most of my adult life reminiscing about my early nightlife adventures in the 80s but recently started to feel equally as lovestruck about the late 90’s + early 00’s, Happy daze.

Lots of DJ advice on Twitter at the moment, here’s mine : 1. Get paid as much as possible. 2. Play the shortest set you can. 3. Always prerecord your set. 4. Never play more than 3miles from your home. 5. Always request something impossible on your rider. Thank you, Goodnight.

Finding it hard to imagine a world without any new work by Vaughan Oliver, one of the greatest creatives of my generation. A huge inspiration to me & someone who played a massively instrumental role in my interest to design in the world of music.

Could post things Kraftwerk related I adore all night. As a child I was spellbound, as a teenager besotted, as an adult in awe. Florian helped form the sound of contemporary music & he’ll live on with one of the finest catalogues ever & all those he passionately inspired. R.I.P

In Saudi Arabia Atheism is illegal and can be disciplined by death. Same-sex relations are also criminalised and punishable by the death sentence. ANYONE who plays there should never be booked anywhere by anyone else again. If you do you should be fucking ashamed of yourself.

Spent eons doing this mix so gonna plug the shit out of it. 9 hours of the very best (mainly 80’s) Island Records releases. Much of it unavailable digitally so if you have the slightest interest in music that defined globe trotting genre busting get on it!

Great to return to work for a label I created the identity for back in 1988 & especially one as seminal as this. ‘Network Remixes Volume One’ Double Vinyl + 4 Track Sampler out now.

Looks like shit is going to get very bad, but when it’s all over the level of disgust for this government dividing & destroying our country will forge a generation of new creative anarchists who’ll change things forever and put Punk, Hip Hop, Rave (& everything after) to shame.

Born in this country, lived here my entire life & never been more angry & absolutely ashamed to be British than I am right now. We’re an embarrassment, the rhetoric’s disgusting, the lies abhorrent. To think I used to tell people abroad I was proud to live here? It’s DESTROYED.

Back 2 the 90’s. In the early 2000s at a N.E.R.D gig I met Dangermouse, when he found out who I was he grabbed my arm took me over to Pharrell & said “this guy is Underdog!” couldn’t believe they had any idea who I was, let alone clearly liked what I did. Major career highlight.

Finally found a label mad enough to let me do artwork in 6 Pantone colours, 4 of them neons. Was asked to return to the style of my early late 80’s work, which was incredibly hard decades after, but finally cracked it & these sleeves are gonna burn out your retinas! Coming sooon.

It’s absolutely irrelevant what you thought of his work & i’d be a liar to call myself a fan, but working so hard going through that, keeping it secret & not stopping to the very end shows a level of strength, dedication & determination I can’t start to imagine. Ultimate Respect.

When I was younger I wanted to build my career by putting out some average records & mouthing off publicly to as many people more talented and better known than me as possible but twitter didn’t exist yet so I spent my time trying to be as good as I possibly could at what I did.

So rare for someone who came to such notorious fame in their earlier career to maintain their integrity & provocateur status for decades after til the very end. Jamie Reid - R.I.P - No Sell Out.

I never get asked about my all time favourite record covers so thought I’d post them here if you care about this kind of thing. In no particular order number 25 : Cabaret Voltaire ‘Fools Game’ Futura 2000 - 1983

At times like this all the more reason to stop shouting about yourself, slagging others off and focus on openly congratulating those around you creating great things. Been doing this for a long time, but still a dumbstruck gushing fan of so many, no shame, life’s too short.

Peter Saville’s birthday today, he designed some truly beautiful things but lets not forget he lived & worked somewhere equally as magnificent during the 90’s. A Mayfair apartment designed by Ben Kelly, sleeping into the afternoon expertly prowling around in a silk dressing gown

In 88 I also designed this UK 12” sleeve for Eric B & Rakim. Was so tired of the constant talk of white devils from all the Farrakhan & NOI followers at the time in Hip Hop I purposely shot an image of a united black & white hand just to piss them off.

This record is single-handedly responsible for so much I’ve done with my life creatively. Released 39 years ago today, I vividly remember bringing it home for the first time listening to it on headphones in my bedroom dreaming of the future.

When you can listen to virtually every album ever made interrupted by adverts every now and again for free don’t be surprised when people don’t value music anymore.

Sorry but if anyone’s seriously under the impression they’ll be at a legal club or festival in the UK in just over a few months they obviously haven’t been taking notice of what the government have been up to over the past 12 months.

I wish everyone who played a role in destroying this country over the past four years and in anyway complicit with all the unnecessary lives lost in 2020 the worse new year imaginable. We will never forgive you.

Another from 88, all created by hand. Original artwork made up of black & white elements on layers of acetate, converted by experts at print repro houses to match colour references I assigned to each specific element. Unsung hero’s of that period, those guys HATED me.

Mark’s music literally changed my life, expanded my young mind in impossible ways. To think decades later I’d be able to speak, let alone hang out with him felt insane. The fact he’s gone is devastating, a behemoth of innovation & talent, raw power, literally larger than life. 💔

25 years old today. Still undeniably the best Rap album of all time. Everytime I listen it still sounds as magnificent as it did when I first heard it, rhyming like his life depended on it, epic storytelling, holy grail of beat makers. The Benchmark. PERFECTION.

After my honest post earlier i’m getting a lot of people trying to educate me about the wonders of the ‘Ibiza/Balearic/Indie’ crossover that totally transformed their lives forever. No disrespect intended but none of those records come anywhere as close to this masterpiece in 89.

Brit pop played a role in the demise of this country, after finally proving what a musically diverse & cultural creative place the UK was becoming along came guitar gripping flag embracing crusaders scared of the new, fucking it up for everyone, unleashing ugly patriotism again.

No label had an impact on me like Def Jam’s seminal early years (84-86) The logo, the releases, the artists, the production, the attitude, it made me want to make music, produce, have a label. Rubin & Simmons were untouchable. The benchmark for me in everyway EVERY time.

If you’d told me in 1996 that Kieran one day would perform a headline set at one of the biggest festivals on the planet I probably would of thought yes, that’s entirely possible. Couldn’t feel prouder.

I went to the Brits once, (the one when Jarvis jumped on stage with MJ). Fuck me if there was ever a more perfect example of how cringe worthy, uninspiring & utterly banal the incestuous & insipid UK music industry has become it has to be this years.
