    Travis Akers Retweeted Jesse Kelly

Robert E. Lee committed treason. He led a military rebellion against the United States in the name of protecting an economic system for rich, white southerners who beat, tortured, raped, and enslaved Africans who were kidnapped from their home and separated from their families.https://twitter.com/jessekellydc/status/1121867883737419776 …

I see Robert E. Lee is getting dragged on Twitter by a bunch of mouth-breathers who aren’t fit to lick the soles of his boots. This modern trend of dragging great men in history using today’s sensibilities is foul to me.

What I said was he was a great military General. If you let a statue make you melt you might want to get help. he's a part of American History. Whether bad history or not he's a party of our American history.

Your view is that even bad history should be honored, right? Then why aren't there statues of Hitler or any of his generals in Germany? Swastikas and Nazi symbols are illegal. Is that wrong, to you?

Red there aren't even statues of Benedict Arnold cause he too was a great American General who also was a traitor. We don't need reminders that the south lost a war intended on breaking up this great nation.

Bill you do not see it every day. You are a Yankee. We won. There isn't any reminders if a losing side this side of the Mason Dixon bro. You are defending Trump and his waky love for a guy who killed HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF AMERICANS.

Germany doesn’t have statues of Nazi leaders or generals. The United States shouldn’t have statues of Confederate leaders or generals. All Confederate leaders and generals were traitors fighting to destroy the United States. They shouldn’t be memorialized in any way.

Hmmm. Treason? He was the lead general for the Confederate States of America, a separate and distinct nation from the United States of America. Civil War is actually incorrect, as 2 different nations were fighting, not Citizens of one nation.

Using your logic the term “civil war” shouldn’t exist at all, as once a part of a country breaks away, claims a new name, and starts to fight for independence they are instantly a new nation. Do I have your thinking right?https://www.battlefields.org/learn/articles/what-civil-war …

@JesseKellyDC: Whatever “greatness” one shows in one area is always overshadowed by one’s apalling actions in other areas. I’m not talking about flaws; I mean atrocious actions. If not, then think of the despicable men in history that we would have to call great. Think Hitler.
