I suppose not every piece of the railroad system needs 6-minute service but dear God, 20 minutes would be wonderful compared to 2 hours
This is on a Saturday at the St. Albans
The idea that better transit (even at the “expense” of space for cars) would in any way hurt the poor or middle class in this country is just laughable.
's top priorities for USDOT is recognize and require induced demand to be measured. USDOT's response? Widening I-10 from 4 to 6 lanes from just west of Diamondhead will improve overall energy efficiency and result in a reduction in pollution and noise.
Horrible and worthless NYPD officers bullying and arresting a young black boy for riding his bike on the sidewalk. There were at least 25 cops just standing around. Abolish the fucking police.
Schermerhorn #bikenyc lane centerline bollards are already destroyed. Also, as the second photo shows, we need bollards at the “end” of each block as drivers are backing up into the lanes as well.
what's the holdup on #oakland planning department mandating parking maximums??!
734-car garage a short walk from 19th BART
596 apartments
this ratio of car parking to housing should be illegal
anyone covering the planning dept and planning commission??
I just love bouncing around this city seeing all the new pockets of life & activity popping up everywhere because of new building — it’s so weird some people are scared of this 🙃
Long Island is one of the most anti-housing parts of the country, and any plan to make New York more affordable starts with denser, transit oriented housing on Long Island
We just keep winning. $15M more in federal funding now awarded to the San Pablo Ave corridor project through W Berkeley/Albany. twitter.com/prinzrob/statu…
Lease is signed, I can finally let this cat out of the bag: as of Saturday I will be a resident of Jackson Heights! Excited for my third borough — transit/streets/housing people of Queens (…there are so many of us) let’s get coffee!
Six months ago, my bill to turn New York City's speed cams on 24/7 in school zones became law -- and since then, 70% more drivers have been held accountable for flouting the law. We have much more work to do to fully achieve Vision Zero, but this law brings us one step closer.
Ideas that are going mainstream at warp speed:
1. Suburbs are part of a metropolitan housing market and need to build lots more dense(r) housing
2: Cities & states need to be planning & building orders of magnitude more high-quality transit than we have for the past ~8 decades
Philadelphia needs this subway. Other cities make new transit expansion happen regularly. It is time for Philadelphia to join them.

There are lots of things I’m (politically) demoralized about right now but I have to say the speed at which the housing stuff is going mainstream is breathtaking
I feel like contributing to bodega discourse today so let me just say it really livens up a street corner when the goods are on display like this 😊 only in NYC baby
Absolutely massive Milwaukee news:
Northwestern Mutual will overhaul existing 1990 building to match 32-story tower, relocate Franklin employees to downtown and build pedestrian plaza as part of $500 million investment
“Most passenger rail startups consume cash by beginning with a ridership study, but that isn’t happening here. As Midcoast’s Smith puts it, ‘We can just run the damn service and see if it works!’”
We need this energy more. Just run trains and people will ride them!

Hochul is speaking more vocally than normal about transit-oriented development in her budget speech right now.
"We spent all of this $ on these stations and trains... and what's next to the station? A parking lot? Rundown factories? Abandoned shops? We can do better than that."

Skepticism of Gov Hochul's transformational housing plan is basically:
1. It would be extremely good and solve ~2 of the top 3 policy problems in America's biggest region
2. Good things don't happen because NY is ungovernable
3. Therefore this can't happen
