Walgreens has more than enough insurance. The real issues are being completely ignored in this post.

The companies pass on that cost. That dude did not just steal from Walgreens, theft *eventually* trickles through to all of us who shop there or at competitors. Pretty clueless to think there is no reaction and second order effect

this doesn’t actually have to happen, they would just raise the prices so the big bosses make more money

Correct, they *raise prices* for us, the buyers. Not likely the bosses can make more money from this scenario of decreased profits and increasing insurance costs, but maybe. The main thing is the money comes from you in the end.

I’m saying they don’t have to raise the prices if they just didn’t sell things at such a price that will make big enough profits that aren’t going to go to the people on the ground doing the actual work but instead to people who don’t really need more money

If you are excellent at your job would you go to a biz that offered you $2M per year or $200k per year, all else equal? If people took similar work for less pay, then yes, prices will come done. You wouldn't do it. Only for lifestyle, integrity, etc. would you or I choose less.

that is so beyond the point. people who work harder physically and or mentally and who break their back for a job should not be paid a barely livable wage while other people do a bunch of corporate office bs and make well beyond a lavish wage

Ha ha, that is a separate point, and totally unrelated to the original tweet about theft and economic impact, but sure, that is one view of the economy.

we set up the economy as it is but it’s not the only way things could be. I won’t argue against stealing bc 9/10 times it happens bc they have no other option and need to do it to survive. ideally no one would have to steal but I understand the circumstances behind it
