NYBC President Carlo Scissura is up now, advocating for the recommendations in the expert panel report that he authored (and that was commissioned by the mayor). He argues that shrinking the BQE to two lanes in each direction is an important move

The last time they ran, those buses had to be run by the private sector with a subsidy from the Metrotech BID. They performed very poorly. The MTA will not do it unless a new pool of money appears or capacity from another route is redeployed.
