There seems some doubt that the cave was indeed a Mithraeum. It is listed in Vermaseren, CIMRM 162.

"Yet it is our opinion, that from these two finds only it may not be concluded that the sanctuary was exactly on this spot." So the Mithraeum could have been elsewhere, and there are other caves nearby...

We have the same kind of Mithraneum in German of Saarbrücken. Stone was extract to create half a cave, pilars and walls closed the whole thing. Far by distance, close by kind of site🤠
