For instance, if I, after having socially, legally, medically, and surgically went through the enormously painful effort to transition back to male, that would be an exmple of “detransition.”
When I was a teen in the 1980s, I tried to come out and transition some in a small town. That wasn’t safe and due to my aversion to beatings, I, as TERFs/media/Critters would say, “detransitioned.” These two types of “detransition” are not the same.
Trans people understand this. TERFs understand this. TERFs also understand that the media, concerned parents, the public, and politicians don’t understand this.
In disservice to those who do detransition, TERFs gleefully pretend that detransition due to life events, personal safety, & real life tests (which are far more common) are representative of the very rare post-transition detransitions in order to concern troll the public & media.
