“Server-client encryption” in a messenger is fake encryption. Every instant messenger program, secure or not, has had this “encryption” for the last decade.
“Server-client encryption” means THE SERVER CAN READ YOUR MESSAGES. That’s why it’s called that.
It’s funny; I completely understand this. I never assume anything in a group chat is secure. Why would anyone assume this? It’s utterly ridiculous to think that.
I have no idea what you’re trying to say here.
I've seen a few people in the past who believe them to be client to client encrypted, have even argued with people about it.. Telegram really doesn't make it clear enough.
Even client to client wouldn't be secure for a messenger like that since at some point you have to send a key to the other device OVER the server for it to decrypt it again. And what if he changes or uses multiple devices? Well...
this is a huge one to get wrong
There is no way to suppress the new group member message even if you control WhatsApp servers? I find that hard to believe tbh.
If the server doesn't tell the existing members a new one joined, they aren't going up be able to encrypt new messages such that the new member can read them.
