doesn't 1Password have similar?
-
-
-
Does it? I’m constantly entering my (long) password into it.
-
Unlock 1Password on your mobile device with your fingerprint or a PIN code. — https://1password.com/features/
-
Fingerprint unlock more sanely implemented in 1Password, I think—not sure about PIN code though https://support.1password.com/android-fingerprint-unlock-security/ …
-
Fingerprints can be compelled, and can apps enable fingerprint stuff w/o fingerprints being enabled for device unlock/>
-
you can turn off TouchID to unlock iPhone yet still use it for apps.

do I have to stop using lastpass now? I haven't tried the PIN fwiw, just using the same master password by hand after a 5min timeout
-
or, you know, android. What do you expect
@LastPass to do on a platform without a secure enclave/touchid analog? -
Uh, what do you mean? Android has TEE and fingerprint support for apps. https://developer.android.com/training/articles/keystore.html …, etc.
-
that a developer can expect to be present in all hardware? I knew the high end had something...
-
Not "high end" but rather "not hopelessly out-of-date". Not related to whether a device is high end.
-
It doesn't need to be present on all hardware to use it. These apps already use a lot of modern APIs.
-
Using a modern API doesn't make an app incompatible with old OS versions. Simply has to check version.
-
If a device doesn't have 6.x yet it's highly unlikely it's on the February security patch right now.

Here at LastPass we saw Windows pin unlock functionality and asked ourselves how we could completely fuck in similar functionality
-
Every person I've seen use PIN unlock for their computer uses their birth year.
-
and compared to leaving the password on a post it note stuck to the monitor that's still a big improvement

i'm con-fused. wouldn't you hash or use the pin as input to a kdf to decrypt the master pass? why ever store the pin?
