Interesting research from Lloyd's Register Foundation. The whole report is about how people from around the globe perceive risk. The number one category of risk that people identify for themselves is road-related transport risk!

This is my favorite part of a grand tour--when the favorites give the jersey away and you hope that maybe, just maybe, one of the people who gained time can try to hold on till the end. I'm rooting for Same Oomen on this one.

I lived under socialism and there was no (overt) capitalist content produced. I wonder what explains the discrepancy?

Critics of radios say that a little more uncertainty would be more exciting. On the other side though, race radios do improve rider safety. After all it's good to warn riders if there are French labor protests in the streets or errant sheep wandering into the road. 7/7

Nowadays with radios though, coaches can tell the riders in the peloton precisely how far away the breakaway is, and tell them almost exactly, in watts, how much energy they need to produce to catch them before the line. 6/n

However, it's always amazing and exciting when the breakaway can stay away for the win. A real David and Goliath story. 5/n

In cycling, how a race usually unfolds is that a breakaway gets away from the peloton (the large bunch of riders) at the beginning of the race and then the peloton chases down the breakaway right before the finish. 4/n

Critics in cycling argue the exact opposite, I think, for good reasons. Mainly, they say that it's too easy for a team to "control" a race when the coaches can be in constant contact with the riders. 3/n

Interestingly, there are ongoing debates about radios being used in another sport--professional cycling. In football, it seems as though radios made the sport more exciting to watch by allowing more offense and scoring. 2/n

Dear and , can you please make some content on sports betting? It was just given a green light by the Supreme Court here in the U.S. I don't understand the terms, possible bets, how it works, etc.

Here's what I want for the rest of the : Sunweb is going to give away the jersey. I want them to give it away to some no-name and then realize too late that, oh shit, this kid is good. Top contenders for that ?

I have a new idea to not be killed by motorists while cycling. Just put a banana in your back pocket or outside backpack pocket. Drivers see it and sub-consciously recognize that, "Hey, I eat bananas, that person eats bananas, he must be a real human that I don't want to kill."
