    I came to my own peace about it, after years of searching, but also years of NOT thinking about it. Left Protestantism altogether, and have been surprised by a forward-thinking, service-rooted Catholic church here in D.C. (The gospel music mass helps.)

    But I am glad there are conversations around WHY folks are leaving the faith, and that they're so public, so hard, and challenge conceptions of a system that can get toxic and greedy pretty quick. Like, I haaaated Christians, which was hard to square with how I felt about God.

    I'm not against giving a thing or a movement a name (says the person who coined "roséwave"), but I'm kinda thankful "deconstruction" wasn't around while I wandered the wilderness, so to speak... I don't like being a talking point.

    After seeing the word "deconstruction" applied to so many Christians for the past year, I finally looked it up and now I'm like, "Oh, this is what I did for 8 or 9 years; they gave it a name."
