We're looking for a postdoc (or two) to join us to explore the molecular and genetic mechanisms that underlie the evolution of pregnancy in mammals and reptiles, and cancer resistance in vertebrates like 🐘🐳🦇🐍🐢🦎 If you're interested, DM me or email me!

One of my PhD chapters just came out on Journal of Biogeography!! 🦎 Linking functional, spatial and new phylogeographic data for lizards in Cerrado we mapped spatial patterns of species and phylogenetic diversity and identified areas of unique diversity

Why are so many genes expressed in the testis? Cool new paper suggests transcriptional scanning as a DNA repair mechanism that results in lower mutation rates in these testis-expressed genes.

Wow! Really neat work! Sex-specific RADseq markers identified by et al. (2018) in C. calyptratus were used to identify identify the conserved XY system in C. chameleon AND used them to design probes for in situ hybridization!!

Wait, they didn't include any snake coronaviruses in their phylogeny? The only evidence that snakes may be an intermediate host for the is a relative synonymous codon bias in the viral genome is that is more similar to snakes than some mammals? wtf?
