15/ If you’re like me, figures/tables from the cited research help make your point and also lend credibility. So:
Make use of available multimedia
I make an attempt to annotate the figures/table I include, those this may not always be necessary.pic.twitter.com/5sKNrGbEInPrikaži ovu nit -
12/ Another option is to include a poll/survey in the first tweet. I have found that if a poll/survey is included in the FIRST tweet, it gets many more responses. This should come as no surprise given that the first tweet is the tweet with the most Impressions.pic.twitter.com/tNrd8CVDTT

8/ I have learned some things having posted 68 Tweetorials and have a number of recommendations. The remainder of this thread will cover these.pic.twitter.com/xZrtq7zEd4

7/ When it’s time to post (and I always post simultaneously), I put the Tweetorial together within Twitter. I then review it multiple times for typos and other issues (you can’t edit tweets after posting). I always miss something.pic.twitter.com/ovaNaPu1Sf

5/ Once I have finished my research, I draft the Tweetorial. I create each tweet in Twitter so I know I have 280 or fewer characters. [You may notice that tweet 1 created in this video is VERY different from the final one posted. I edit a lot to ensure the language is optimal.]pic.twitter.com/NEtMFRbaJv

When helping make Mac & Cheese, my daughter asked (when examining the precooked pasta): “Why is it so hard?” Her hypothesis: the boiling water does something. Here are our test results.pic.twitter.com/WY50TNqDdA

10/ I’m also looking for clinical correlates that can be included in the final Tweetorial. For the bacteremia Tweetorial, the study linked below led me to the Trojan horse theory and the idea that neutropenia might affect S. aureus bacteremia. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21297670 pic.twitter.com/yS59DFXAZA

Conclusion: E. coli clearance continues while S. aureus clearance plateaus.pic.twitter.com/GYeR0flftFPrikaži ovu nit -

Conclusion: Staph aureus is cleared more quickly by the RES than e.coli.pic.twitter.com/qTaXcykWjTPrikaži ovu nit -

Conclusion: The mononuclear phagocyte system is key.pic.twitter.com/4UnmGlBNOrPrikaži ovu nit -

Great point, also made by
@roby_bhatt. Here is another study which found that neutropenic patients had shorter durations of S. aureus bacteremia and lower rates of metastatic infection. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12935981 pic.twitter.com/o4CvFiQjM6

10/ One proposed explanation for late/persistent bacteremia: S. aureus hides inside neutrophils. Evidence for S. aureus survival within neutrophils has been around for decades. In 1952, Rogers and Tompsett observed viable bacteria in the cytoplasm. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14907971 pic.twitter.com/SnMXR0Bv02

9/ These results (i.e., that S. aureus is cleared by the MPS more quickly than E. coli) run counter to what I have understood. Another study demonstrates that although S. aureus counts drop more quickly, it levels off. Clearance of E. coli continues. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14438353 pic.twitter.com/li9SaszB2w

8/ It turns out that MPS clearance may be FASTER with S. aureus. This is NOT what I expected to find when I began reading about this topic. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/13664867 pic.twitter.com/p5AeY8wqLN

6/ Though the infection risk ascribed to cirrhosis is multifactorial, the role of MPS dysfunction seems clear. In one study of 41 patients with cirrhosis, it was those with reduced MPS function had an increased risk of bacteremia. Kupffer cells matter! https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/6693068 pic.twitter.com/jCs8QDgsGp

5/ An understanding of the role of the MPS (and KC within the liver, more specifically) sheds light on a fact we all know:
Cirrhosis is a risk factor for infection
Cirrhosis was associated with a HR of 5.8 for treatment failure after GNR bacteremia.
