This is how @Ancestry commercial should have been shot. With the ending having the young girl still screaming for her father, while they roll text “Roots & lineage are everything even if they are stolen.” @SandyDarity @HenryLouisGates @KWCosby @BreakingBrown @tariqnasheed #adospic.twitter.com/D24RMJlBoL

Right Antonio, they romanticized slavery. Trying to erase the true atrocities their forefathers committed

I really don’t see what the problem people are having with this commercial. This scenario did happen. I’ve been an amateur genealogist for over 20 years. These commercials are just telling one story out of billions to peak interest in family search.

Dear misguided, please sit down and NEVER repeat that again. The EXCEPTION should never be allowed to drive the narrative. Good grief man!

This just falls in line with the wypippo savior tactics and everything else they do so no suprise here. Switch, bait then brainwash is what they do best. But it didn't work because thank goodness many us are woke to the nonsense.pic.twitter.com/wWlZsrAP2p

I am a 7 year subscriber of
@Ancestry online, and I was livid when I saw this commercial. It was an unsuccessful attempt to soften and romanticize slavery. I am mixed because one of my female slave ancestors was raped by a WM. America can’t hide the truth. -
I took my ancestry test 2 years ago. I knew European would show up, but seeing it in print and thinking about how it got there literally made me feel nauseous. Ancestry could've done a much better commercial to acknowledge African American slave ancestry.

This situation is not typical during slavery and jim crow. It's almost non-existent. A woman who is owned and treated as property doesn't have the freedom to consent to anything. For example, Sally Hemmings, Thomas Jefferson's slave, was NOT his mistress, she was his rape victim
-
There are so many people who are defending it especially black women. So many pages and channels run by bw dedicated to promoting relationships between black women and white men
