I build a model of my town. It’s accurate enough that you could use it to find a pub. I exclude the sewer system, an arbitrary decision. My model is like our algorithms, tech, & science. It’s a representation of reality & truth, like art. We have fallen in love w/ models
“MIT is about making models.” Ah, that is our world. The technological world creates models that explain the past & the future. But...what does that tell us about truth? All we can say is that the model predicts the future & explains the past. We could refine the model...
