Maronites have since lost their dominance, mostly throughout the Lebanese civil war, yet they still cling so tightly to the idea of a French influenced ‘Grand Liban’ and they’re trying to force it down everyone else’s throat. I don’t see that continuing to work for much longer.

I concur, the Maronites' continued anchoring to the past of Maronite exceptionalism and superiority will lead to their demise. Instead of focusing so much on presidential authority, the focus should be on nominating and electing strong and talented MPs.
