I believe this is what pick up artists call a ‘neg’. It’s a technique to pique a woman’s interest. Judging by this tweet, it worked —though perhaps it was an unintentional jerk-flirt.

Thank you for describing the term. I had heard of a 'neg' but didn't know what it meant. An unintentional jerk-flirt, or a jerk's idea of flirting? Since you've been so helpful, might you know what a thot is? I've seen that often though I haven't been described as such...I hope

The idea is that all good flirting is jerk-flirting, since the pick up artist’s unofficial slogan is “chicks dig jerks.” Thot, as I understand it, is an acronym for “That Hoe Over There”. But, being in the UK, I had to look it up myself. So much of slang depends on context...
