1. There’s a type of rightist who likes to bemoan the influence of the West on “traditional” religions among immigrants to the West. I’ve been guilty of doing this myself, but I think it’s insincere and done in bad faith.

2. It is true that emigration to the West can mess with religious traditions and other social customs—often at the expense of family unity & well-being. However, I don’t really believe Western rightists care *that much* about whether Muslim women face fitna in the West...

3. ...or whether Hindus end up noshing hamburgers at McDonalds. I think they pretend to care because it’s socially acceptable to rubbish the West, and this lets them do so—using immigrants as a shield—while still making reactionary points.

4. It lets them pretend that they only want to reduce immigration to “save” immigrants from the dissolute West. Which they’re quite happy to live in, of course (sacrifice!). I think this is more a case of not having the balls to make a sincere case against mass immigration.

5. There are American rightists who’ll damn the States as the “Great Satan” etc.—possibly thinking of conversion to Islam or “trad Catholicis,”. This is the extreme version, but I think these people must hate themselves and hate their societies.

6. They suffer from ressentiment and hatred “from the right”, which means they can effectively cheer every leftist cause—although with a slight reactionary tilt. In their hearts, I think they want to cheer to US and the West but don’t have the balls.
