1. Notes on day 3 of the Mikhaila/Jordan Peterson carnivore diet: Energy levels seem to feel higher, and I’m waking up earlier. However, it’s hard to tell much at this stage. Downside, I wake up with a mouth tasting of salty meat and feel a bit sick until I have my first coffee.
2. Interesting effect today. I had a plain tonic water. About halfway through the drink I started to feel awful—an acute sense of depression, dread, and anxiety that lasted approximately 40mins. I haven’t felt like that in years. I looked up the nutritional information...

3. The tonic water had a few grams of carbs and sugar in it. After 40 mins I went back to feeling normal. This seems to confirm the Peterson thesis that carbs/sugars can make up feel sluggish and depressed. I felt both. It was unexpectedly severe, & I didn’t expect it.

4. Other observation: I’m eating a lot less, but I feel full most of the time and it’s quite pleasant. Overall, it’s too early to tell what effect it’s having. We’ll see how it goes.

Perhaps it was simply because you were drinking straight tonic water and you realized the absurdity of the life choices that had brought you to the point where you'd drink straight tonic for fun?
