Henry Miller had no explicit politics. However, I see him as being—rather like Kerouac—as being of the right. An affection for Europe over American commercialism, not caring about WWII, eroticism, lack of moralism, & a love of the orient all point to rightist anarchism.

It’s the spirit of Lao Tse. Purely anti-political and sceptical about human nature: “It's silly to go on pretending that under the skin we are all brothers. The truth is more likely that under the skin we are all cannibals, assassins, traitors, liars, hypocrites, poltroons.”
