“Fully automated luxury communism” means “I like iPhones and Deliveroo. These should be free.” The person with an allotment is enagaging in phoney “fascist” authenticity. In this way, Adorno’s critique of authenticity becomes a defence of consumer capitalism.
Adorno, T. (1977) “The Jargon of Authenticity”: Adorno talks about DIY in other places, dismissively. I think this feeds into the contemporary leftist who disdains capitalism but cheerfully refuses DIY. They await nationalised corps which are, oddly, more “authentic” than DIY.pic.twitter.com/zUHSb6Oebq
