Quite a few of the effects of the sexual and social revolution have interesting cascades and interrelations. Divorce led to a decline in home cooking & culinary skills, which led to instant meals and obesity. This in turn fed into the rise of cooking for status not nutrition.

So there’s a relation between internationalisation, the destruction of local culinary traditions, divorce, obesity, and the rise of “status cooking”. It’s all to the benefit of multinational corporations.

AIDS has a similar story. It was helped along by the sexual revolution, and it destroyed the rooted and local traditions of “being gay” (e.g. slang like polari) bc so many died. By doing this, it paved the way for “gay identity” to be reconstructed as corporate property.
