Thinking about the discussion of irony, honesty, integrity, sincerity and truth earlier...my mind has tumbled back through the years. I’m recalling knowing this point from long ago, sincere irony. What may have changed in me is that I know people better now.

I suppose Socrates was a rather ugly man, and Nietzsche would have observed that, accordingly, he would be a great moraliser. Hm. No, I still think irony is a fracturing of integrity and can only be sincere in a dishonest and sour way.

Thinking back to that last moment of Socratic irony, his suicide and offering to the gods. Isn’t this a sour gesture by an impotent man? The origin of slave morality...maybe.
