The argument sounds clever and sound, but I suppose I have absorbed Nietzsche’s point “Plato is boring.” And I know more about what people are and how they use irony to wound, perhaps fracturing themselves to do so.

I suppose Socrates was a rather ugly man, and Nietzsche would have observed that, accordingly, he would be a great moraliser. Hm. No, I still think irony is a fracturing of integrity and can only be sincere in a dishonest and sour way.

Thinking back to that last moment of Socratic irony, his suicide and offering to the gods. Isn’t this a sour gesture by an impotent man? The origin of slave morality...maybe.
