A great deal of human conversation is about rationalising or justifying what people want to do or are going to do anyway. They just want you to help them spin the justification or bullsh!t for their act. If you don’t support it, the conversation stops.
A colleague says, “I order LSD on the dark web. I’m worried that the police will get me, though.” I say, “The solution is to stop ordering LSD on the dark web. Then you’ll stop worrying.” But that’s not point, bc he wants to carry on. He just wants me rationalise his worry.
