“Every man a king.” This is entirely about what Americans imagine aristocracy and heredity is about, a fiction of Old World traditions magnified.
Americans like to imitate what they imagine is aristocracy. They call themselves Jeremiah P. Orvill IV, as if they were kings. Sometimes I see Americans assuming this is an English thing they copied. “Oh, he’s so posh Mr. Fetheringstone III.” No one in England does this.
