Journalists, policemen, and lawyers are interested in confecting a story and maintaining that story. They pick it out from the materials presented to them. They are rigid. If certain facts don’t fit the story, they are discarded. This is why they are miserable people.

Scientists, philosophers, and artists understand that flow is more important than maintaining a story against new evidence, ways of seeing, or logical inference. Everything flows. They are like water, but the servants of the state are brittle and snap. The consistent are weak!
