Angostura. I keep trying to make this, and it keeps not quite working for me - too serious, too bitter - but that is probably my failing rather than the drink's.
Aha - in a spiced rumhattan (2℥ Red Leg, 1℥ Antica Formula, and 1 Angostura), the spiced rum draws a soothing caramel veil over the bitterness of the vermouth, which better fits my current supine mood. Is vanilla on vanilla harmonious, or a faux pas? Try with Pusser's spiced.
Don't think so. I haven't been to Hawksmoor in ages, but i remember their cocktails being pretty reasonable. I distinctly remember the butter-washed Old Fashioned, which is extremely Hawksmoor.
