There is no "moving past 2016" for Democrats or any other Americans, probably for a generation. The high crime stands. The damage is too deep. And the participants are still on the stage. Stand and fight.

  5. See, this seems like the actual story.

I have no hot takes except: Let’s remember who it was, exactly, who pushed for the preservation of caucuses as part of this system during the DNC Unity process. Prioritizing self-interest above basic Democratic norms tells me a lot about that team.

Looks to be a tight 3-way race in . Let's see how those 3 candidates responded: 1) Mayor Pete: Declare victory with no data reported just hubris & entitlement. 2) Sen Sanders: Release unverified data that you collected to the public as if it is fact. 3) Sen Warren:

  8. Agree. Wildly overrated (but very good).

  9. Here's what I don't get about all the frantic Sanders outrage: your guy claims the biggest movement in the history of Democratic politics. A political revolution that expands the electorate. Surely losing the (wildly overrated) "Iowa Bounce" won't matter to that juggernaut?

I hope it takes like 3 more days to get results from Iowa, just so the nation can finally come together over something and ban caucuses and maybe force Iowa to be the last state to vote for the next 200 years.

Some context for all this: The DNC spent roughly two years hammering out new caucus/primary rules, and even new debate rules, with heavy Bernie-world input. Mission one: Create a process that Sanders voters would consider fair. And in one night, it's all gone.

  12. Yeah, I think the undertold story will be Warren's field. Every bit on par with Sanders and then some. She was the big upside surprise.

  13. Remember when the Sanders coalition was out marketing the "reform" plan that preserved caucuses?

This is ridiculous. And that people in these positions are willing to spread conspiracy theories is not okay.

Love how it instantly became a widely accepted fact that the Dem Party--not even IA Dems, but the national party--intentionally screwed up the caucuses in the most high-profile way, embarrassing the fuck out of themselves, in some convoluted plot to blunt Bernie's "momentum."

When you realize Bernie's major value proposition is expanding the turnout by the white working class in the midwest through an angry populist message, his tepid showing becomes quite a challenge for him.

  20. Another sign of Sanders weakness that you'll see later today (most likely) - they'll be pushing ridiculously hard on that first preference number, which doesn't even count.

  21. Feels very strongly like Bernie's field underperformed yesterday. He did not expand the electorate (rather the opposite - turnout declined). And his second choice caucus numbers were lower than expected. That ceiling is still there.
