Yes, Rep. Omar hasn't explicitly said Graham's sexuality is the blackmail being used against him. But as everyone in D.C. knows, this is the rumor circulated about Graham, so saying he's "compromised" achieves this purpose. No reason to give her a pass for dog whistling.

I presume all of the progressives tweeting at me that I shouldn’t spell out the obvious implication she’s making also hit the media every time Trump is accused of being “racist” for favoring tighter immigration?

Am looking forward to all of the progressives who are certain there's some non-sexuality related scandal she's referencing to report back on what they come up with. Not sure Ilhan Omar's irresponsible rhetoric is the hill you want to die on.

Will update with any response. As an elected leader who would certainly not state something so scandalous without knowing it to be true, I am optimistic I’ll get a full explanation.

Final note on Rep Omar: The CNN clip I posted is of her being asked about a tweet she sent Tuesday. That tweet, as mentioned in my article linked earlier, had re-circulated a rumor seen on progressive Twitter that day about Lindsey Graham’s sexuality being used to blackmail him.

I’m aware Omar tries to distance herself of that charge in this interview by bringing up “funding,” polling (?), and Senate leadership positions. Obviously his Senate assignments were not the “extreme” dirt being gossiped about Tuesday.

If there is such thing as a political dog whistle, she’s smart enough to know it’s not supposed to be audible, especially on CNN.

If you look at her original tweet you’ll see that her fans read it exactly as I did. Graham is, as just one example, being accused of rabid pedophilia. In Omar’s tweet, she states with total certainty that Graham “is compromised.”

If so, and it’s not related to his sexuality, what is this specific thing she knows about? I contacted her office this morning with that exact question. They did not respond.
