When I say 'in-browser', it only works in Chrome right now, so it's sort-of using the modern equivalent of an ActiveX plugin, but that's still an achievement. Beta signup's here, and requires a Google account and patience: https://earth.google.com/studio/ 

That doesn't explain why on earth you need hardware acceleration to scroll smoothly through what should be a simple goddamn HTML page with a list of files on it, but I guess that's the web we use now.

Huh. Turns out that, at some point years ago, I turned off hardware acceleration in Chrome. That explains why I've been getting really slow, janky, 3-frames-per-second browsing on things like Google Drive.

If you're wondering why I'm on Twitter so much at the minute, it's because I've finished nearly everything I need to do before Christmas but I still feel like I should work and this is close enough

Do I agree with everything in all those folks' videos? No! Do I understand everything in all those folks' videos? Also no. Am I about to emulate @hbomberguy and film myself climbing, naked and covered in slime, out of a giant canvas-size print of loss.jpg? Definitely no.

He's one of an increasing number of YouTube folks who are doing really interesting things. @thelindsayellis, @PhilosophyTube, @ContraPoints, loads more. It's brilliant to see long-form video essays that aren't half an hour of talking to camera interspersed with stock footage.

Finally, I've sent Brave a formal right-to-be-forgotten request requiring that any profile they've built, and any records of donations tagged to me (via domain name, or YouTube channel, etc), are deleted. They have acknowledged it, and have a month to reply under GDPR.

A lot of people got caught up on photo copyright, which wasn't the issue: it's about "passing off", claiming you represent someone when you don't.
