  1. Also, because "call 101 for a time-sensitive matter" basically amounts to "thank you for being a good citizen, now spend half an hour on hold before you can talk to a human".

  2. I ask because I think the current wording by the police around what amounts to an "emergency" is probably confusing/vague to most people. Does a relatively mild issue that is time-sensitive amount to an "emergency"?

On understanding the law, politics and procedure of the EU, I really like these Fact Sheets. I'd like to imagine if good information had flowed more, we might be in a different situation right now. But people HAVE had enough of experts etc. 🙄

If the government wanted to make sure nobody read the Russia report, they'd put the word "Weeknotes" in the title and have a Delivery Manager write it.

Last night, on a London bus, I overheard two people discussing whether or not it is acceptable to use the word "boomer" as a pejorative. They concluded it was less than ideal, before moving on to discussing "gammon". Politics Twitter is bad enough when confined to Twitter.

The BBC confidently assures me this is a picture of David Beckham. What with being the nation's most trusted broadcaster, they'd never get something like this wrong.

I swear computers are getting worse every time I use them. Simple shit like saving a goddamn Word file that used to work fine back on my old 486 running Windows 95 is now agonisingly terrible and slow, because software is terrible dogshit now.

Finally, the NHS will have an AI that is as good at predicting people's mental health as Amazon is at recommending me books—i.e. not very. And all we had to do was give up the medical records of some of society's most vulnerable people.
