    While I'm at it, if you want the latest information from *actual scientists* instead of Twitter kooks, check out this *awesome* resource from The Lancet, which has taken down its paywall for papers and put them all in one place!

    Anyway, I'll probably crawl back in my hole now. Life's been a bit intense, lately, and I'm not working in news at the moment anyway. But having had a long fascination with epidemics, I've been following NCoV2019 pretty closely and figured I'd share what I'd seen.

    Intersting thing #2: It appears he recovered after receiving a 'compassionate trial' of Remdesivir, a new, yet-to-be-approved antiviral drug from drugmaker Gilead. Gilead is rolling out an accelerated trial of the same drug in China.

    First, it appears the Washington coronavirus patient has largely recovered, according to a writeup today in the New England Journal of Medicine, which described his symptoms as largely resolved, although he's still in isolation.

    I don't have numbers here, but it's apparently enough of a thing that along with the memes there's a market for stuff like this. Epic Baby SWAT bag! Tactical diapering! Maybe it's a joke but it's also hard to believe it's *just a joke - & jokes always have a bit of truth, anyway

    As Washington state fails to meet even its gradual carbon reduction goals, the governor proposes faster goals.

    INBOX: announcing new climate policies, to hit ~zero carbon emissions by 2050, roughly 2x as ambitious as the policies of his first 7 years in office. New goal aligns more with science (and Inslee's 2019 presidential platform).

    Sometimes a statistic puts a hard number on something you already intuitively knew. Still, that's one hell of a ratio.

    Our audience team is shutting down comments on the site in the new year. 17,400 comments were made in 2019, but 45% came from just 13 people. There's only 3 of us, and we want spend our efforts engaging with readers more meaningfully. More here:
