Excl: Moves are afoot to dislodge Graham Brady as 1922 Committee Chairman. The ‘22 Chairman and executive are re-elected in each new session of Parliament - ordinarily a formality for the Chairman. Yet this time, after his rebellious Covid stances, Govt loyalists are canvassing.
I’m told former minister Robert Goodwill is sounding out colleagues, some of who have been told Brady is not seeking re-election. I’m reliably told however that Brady will be standing. This could be a bit of a battle. No date for election set yet...
Brady has intentionally sought to reverse the pos+ impact of HMG Covid strategy. Is it ok to disagree with your cabinet? of course it is but to undermine its critical milestones in a national crisis is wrong. If he's removed it will be of his own making.
